Checkout.com, a London-based digital payments processor, recently raised $1B in a share sale valuing the company at $40B. The funding round includes new investors Franklin Templeton and Qatar Investment Authority, with additional investment from existing investors Insight Partners and Tiger Global Management. Checkout.com did not seek outside capital until 2019, and is now worth 20X its initial valuation, a byproduct of the booming eCommerce market catalyzed by the pandemic.
