Eric Schmidt, former Google executive, recently launched a $125M philanthropic project to fund AI technologies looking to solve hard problems including bias, harm, geopolitical conflict, and scientific limitations of current technology. The fund intends to tackle social projects including mitigating economic inequality and developing powerful algorithms called liquid neural networks. The fund, AI2050, will disseminate funds to individual academics over a five year period.
