Pinduoduo, the China-based e-commerce giant, launched its US online shopping site which represents its largest overseas push to date. The new website is called Temu, and it sells items ranging from clothing and jewelry to pet supplies and home decor. While the company theoretically poses some degree of competitive threat to US e-commerce giant Amazon, logistical challenges – Pinduoduo’s products are coming from China and could take up to 7-15 business days shipping time – ought to minimize any meaningful impact. Temu will likely also face challenges cultivating trust within the US consumer market.
