Checkmate, a startup that wants to revolutionize e-commerce by making promo/discount/coupon code hunting a thing of the past, has raised $15 million in Series A. Checkmate has built a free iPhone app that “pulls all your shopping into one place, tracks your packages and saves you money on 40,000 online stores.” In addition to scanning for and pulling down web-based discounts, it screens users’ email and harvests the promotions and coupons that consumers typically ignore.
