Bumble, the online dating and networking application launched in 2014, has introduced biometric identity verification, developed by Veriff, to combat the growing threat of romance scams, allowing users to verify their identity with a government-issued ID and selfie comparison. Verified users can display a badge on their profile and filter for other verified accounts, with the feature currently available in 11 markets, including the U.S. and U.K., with plans for further expansion. Additionally, Bumble is launching a “Share Date” feature to enhance user safety by enabling them to share date details with trusted contacts, aligning with industry trends set by competitors like Tinder.
