Apple recently announced plans to accept contactless payments through Apple Pay by using iPhone and a partner-enabled iOS app. The new technology is motivated by consumer adoption of tapping to pay with digital wallets and credit cards. Merchants will be able to unlock contactless payment acceptance through a supporting iOS on the iPhone XS device, or later models. Consumers will have to hold their iPhone, Apple Watch, contactless credit or debit card, or digital wallet near the merchant’s iPhone to pay.
